Program Aims & Scopes

The Ph.D. program in Statistics emphasizes both theoretical and applied statistics as well as its application in other academic disciplines, across sciences, social sciences and health sciences. It aims to coach and train candidates for both academic and professional careers in the rapidly growing fields of statistics and data science. This program is designed to serve a broad range of the applications of advanced statistics in big data analytics such as data mining, machine learning, etc. Furthermore, the program focuses on the development of statistical models and statistical learning to cope with unstructured data which generally violate the data assumptions and include complex features and huge dimensions.

Applicant’s Qualification

Plan 1.1
  • The candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Statistics or a related field from a university or institution accredited by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovations.
  • The candidate must have experience in teaching statistics or a related subject in higher education institution for a minimum of 3 years.
  • If the qualifications stated in item 1 and 2 are not satisfied, the offer will be determined by the program administration committee.
Plan 2.1
  • The candidate must hold a Master’s degree in Statistics or a related field from a university or institution accredited by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovations.
  • If the qualifications stated in item 1 and 2 are not satisfied, the offer will be determined by the program administration committee.
Plan 2.2
  • The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics or a related field with honors or graduate with a minimum of GPA 3.25 from a university or institution accredited by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovations.
  • If the qualifications stated in item 1 and 2 are not satisfied, the offer will be determined by the program administration committee.
